As I reflect on the whirlwind that has been 2023, wearing multiple hats has been a test of resilience. I'm a mom, the founder of The Latina Techie community, and deeply entrenched in the corporate world—well, let's just say it's been a wild ride. And for someone who's not exactly best friends with change (hello, Capricorn vibes), this year's endless twists and turns have been a real challenge.
Adapting to this whirlwind of change forced me into a dance of pivots and adjustments, pushing me far out of my comfort zone. As someone who usually prefers stability, it's been a rollercoaster of frustration and overwhelming moments. But amid this chaos, I can't help but express my deep gratitude for the unwavering support of my family and community—they've been my anchor through it all.
The Latina Techie Highlights of 2023!
Speaking of highs amidst the chaos, there have been incredible moments. Hosting the second A Seat At Her Table event was a milestone, connecting with and empowering over 50 phenomenal women. Speaking engagements at events like Diversitech, Moms 2.0, VMC Summit, and even Art Basel were opportunities to share insights and connect across diverse platforms. And diving into a new executive role in the corporate realm brought its own challenges and insights.
But in the whirlwind of these experiences, I've discovered the vital importance of hitting the pause button. Taking breaks and embracing self-care became non-negotiable. Amidst the rush, these moments became my lifeline, offering a chance to recharge and recalibrate. Showing up on our terms, I've learned, is the key to sustaining ourselves amidst chaos. It's about setting boundaries, honoring our needs, and finding that delicate balance between giving our all and preserving energy for ourselves. Because the most sustainable way to show up authentically in any sphere of life is by honoring our own well-being first.
